Prime Timers (55 and older):
Prime Timers is a friendly group gathering every Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Prime Timers meet at the Township’s Community Service Building at 2900 North Main Street in Buffalo Grove. Typical gatherings consist of a card game called Hand and Foot a variation of Canasta. If you have never played, the group would love to teach you! We are also always ready to learn and play your favorite games. For special events please see our schedule listed in the current News Letter. Please call (847) 634-1542 with any inquiries.
Vernon Township 50/50 Taxi Program
Vernon Township has a taxi program for Seniors and Disabled residents. Our 50/50 Taxi program offers coupons that are purchased for $1.50 with a coupon value of $3. Coupons are sold in $15 increments and limited to $75 per household, per month and are used ONLY with American Taxi Company. The coupons may be used for transportation within the Chicagoland area with the exception of transportation to and from any airports. Purchase of these coupons is by check or cash only. First time users must prove residency with a valid State I.D. or Drivers License. Additionally, users must prove residency annually.

Lending Closet
Vernon Township has medical equipment to lend including walkers, crutches, canes, wheelchairs (require a $50 deposit), toilet risers, shower chairs and more. Donations of clean, gently used equipment are also appreciated. The Lending Closet is located at Vernon Township Administration Building 3050 North Main Street, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089

Medicare - The Official U.S. Government site. Look for the Medicare plan finder tool safely and securely to help find the most cost effective prescription drug plan to fit your needs.
Illinois Department on Aging - Illinois Department of Aging offers programs designed to help the aging population live independently in their own homes and communities. This is also where the Benefit Access Program (formerly Circuit Breaker). Income eligible seniors and persons with disabilities can also apply for a license plate discount and ride free transit card (Ventra).
Social Security - The official website of the U.S. Social Security Administration. Online services include applying for Social Security benefits and Medicare. You may also request a replacement Social Security Card.
Illinois Department of Human Services - Income and asset eligible seniors can apply for SNAP benefits (formerly Food Stamps), medical and cost sharing programs.
